New step for AEP
AEP Committees met in Paris on 23-24 June 2008 to prepare a new phase for AEP functioning, keeping AEP spirit and objectives with a new way to proceed. A good time to be more active for both your own and the general benefits!
EU debate on GL sector
In the context of declining cultivation of grain legume crops in Europe, and at the initiative of COPA-COGECA, stakeholders and decision makers has debated the grain legumes economic sector on the 26 March 2008 in Brussels.
Overview of FP7
Get an united voice from legumes for R&D priorities! In Europe, one of the opportunities for sources of additional funds is the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7), the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe. FP7 is running from 2007 to 2013. FP7 supports research in selected priority areas.
What are grain legumes?
Grain legumes are crop plants belonging to the legume family with papilionaceous flowers and pods containing seeds. Most legumes do not need industrial fertilisers thanks to their natural symbiosis with Rhizobium which provides them with organic proteins made directly from atmospheric nitrogen. Grain legumes are cultivated primarly for their seeds which are rich in energy and protein.
Echos from 'Lisbon2007'
380 international experts from 44 countries were gathered in Lisbon from 12 to 16 November to discuss the progress in legume knowledge, especially with the first outputs from the EU Grain Legumes Integrated Project (GLIP) coming to an end in 2008 which lead the research on nitrogen-fixing plants.

AEP Network

AEP, the European Association for Grain Legume Research, is a European-based but internationally-active network of scientists and end-users concerned with grain legumes (peas, faba beans, lupins, chickpeas, lentils, Phaseolus beans, etc.). AEP aims both to strengthen the inter-disciplinary research works and to enhance the application of research into the integrated chain of grain legumes. Any individual or organisation is welcome to AEP to benefit from its network and services.

GL TTP

GL-TTP (Grain Legumes Technology Transfer Platform) is a not-for-profit organisation set up in 2005 to bridge the gap between research and industry in order to increase the production and quality of grain legumes worldwide. With its GL-TTP members, the strength of the AEP network and the ongoing projects such as GLIP to which GL-TTP is contractor, GL-TTP is in an ideal position to identify the specific needs and constraints of grain legume breeders and direct the latest research results and technologies to the grain legume industry so that their uptake and adoption is accelerated.
